Our experienced local instructors will guide you through the basics of surfing — from understanding ocean conditions and board safety to paddling, popping up, and riding waves. The lesson includes a land-based warm-up followed by hands-on instruction in the water. After the 90-minute lesson, you'll also enjoy up to 2 additional hours of board rental to practice on your own — included at no extra cost.
Come solo or bring friends — no experience needed, just a good attitude and a love for the ocean!
Joining with children? Please indicate in your booking request if there are children under 12, or teens who may need extra assistance (for example if they are very small for their age, not very strong or may require closer support from the instructor). This helps us plan the lesson safely and appropriately. All other participants are expected to be able to handle a full-size surfboard independently in the ocean.

Arrive at Sámara Beach school, sign in, and receive your rash guard and surfboard from your ISA-certified instructor.
On the sand, learn surf safety, ocean conditions, paddling techniques, and the pop-up sequence following ISA protocol.
Wade into waist-deep water for one-on-one coaching: paddle, pop up, and catch your first gentle waves under expert guidance.
Continue practicing on your own with complimentary board rental—refine your skills and ride waves at your own pace.
Return your gear, debrief with your instructor, and get personalized tips for your next surf adventure.
We accept payment in Costa Rican colones (CRC) or US dollars (USD). You're welcome to pay in either currency – just let us know your preference in advance, if possible.

If our staff determines that weather conditions are unsafe or unsuitable for the tour, you will have the option to reschedule or receive a full refund. Safety comes first.
Cancellation and prepayment policies may vary depending on the tour operator. Our policy is as follows: Cancellations made 48 hours or more before the activity are eligible for a full refund. If you cancel between 36 and 48 hours before the activity, a 50% refund will be issued. Cancellations made less than 36 hours before the activity are non-refundable.
