After a short scenic drive from Playa Sámara or Carrillo Town, your bilingual guide will welcome you at the former cattle farm entrance and share the reserve’s conservation story. Wander beneath towering guanacaste and ceiba trees as you inhale the heady scent of tropical dry forest, then meander into the sun-dappled mango plantation—where you’re invited to hand-pick and savor organic fruit straight from the branch.
Continue along winding trails to a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Nicoya Peninsula and the Gulf of Nicoya, learning about native wildlife—from coati and howler monkeys to brilliantly colored toucans—and the indigenous Chorotega communities who once thrived here. Along the way, your guide will interpret the intricate relationships between local plants, traditional uses, and modern preservation efforts. Arrive at a lookout platform to take in sweeping vistas of the Nicoya coastline and Pacific horizon. Your guide will explain the region’s geology and conservation challenges.

Cancellation and prepayment policies may vary depending on the tour operator. Our policy is as follows: Cancellations made 48 hours or more before the activity are eligible for a full refund. If you cancel between 36 and 48 hours before the activity, a 50% refund will be issued. Cancellations made less than 36 hours before the activity are non-refundable.
